The Mori Hosseini Student Union at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, serves as the central hub of campus life, housing dining venues, student organizations, meeting spaces, and the university library. Architecturally inspired by aviation, the building features a sweeping roofline reminiscent of wings in flight and a bright interior commons with expansive glass curtainwall and skylights. The steel structure includes architecturally exposed structural steel, long-span beams, curved roof members, cantilevered elements, and slender thin-walled box-section lateral bracing. Together, these elements create large open spaces while providing the strength and stability needed to withstand Florida’s coastal wind conditions.
