Our Company is a leading steel fabricator in Atlanta and the Southeast states, providing structural steel, miscellaneous metals, ornamental metals, erection, and services to general contractors, owners and developers for the construction of commercial, government, industrial and educational projects. Steel, LLC. provides steel to general contractors in Atlanta and the Southeast with whom we have developed strong and long lasting relationships. Market
The largest segment of Steel, LLC's market is along the Eastern Seaboard, but we have worked for clients with projects West of the Mississippi.
Services
Steel, LLC. produces fabricated steel to frame all types of conventional and complex steel building structures. This includes, but is not limited to, columns, beams, trusses and plate girders. Miscellaneous stairs and rails, steel joist, steel decking, ornamental metals and in place erection are also services generally included in Steel, LLC.'s scope of work. These services are performed by Steel, LLC or supplied through a network of experienced and reliable sub-contractors and suppliers. The company delivers its services through the bid market as well as the design build market. Steel, LLC. is AISC certified in conventional steel structures and complex building structures with a sophisticated paint (multiple coat system) endorsement.
Customers and Projects
The company has experience in a wide range of construction projects such as commercial, industrial, office buildings, regional shopping malls, power plants, distribution centers, pedestrian bridges, hotels, public schools, college campus buildings, sports arenas, parking decks, convention centers, aviation structures, etc. There are many customers in the southeast with which we have strong relationships that help us win jobs, but any commercial general contractor in the market that builds the type of projects that were described above is a potential customer for us.
Management
Scott Godfrey, President
Mr. Godfrey joined the Company in February of 2003 as Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Scott has over 20 years of manufacturing and sales management experience in the construction industry. His sales experience includes both direct sales and sales management in the commercial construction industry, developing relationships with general contractors. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Georgia (1982). From 1997 to 2003, Scott was employed by Georgia Masonry Supply as Sales Manager of their crushed stone and concrete products division. Prior to this Scott has worked as plant manager, general manager, commercial salesman and owner in the ready-mix concrete industry. Mr. Godfrey has been an active member of the Associated General Contractor of America, Georgia Chapter, serving on the membership committee.
Marvin Brown, Vice President of Operations and COO
Mr. Brown joined the firm in 1994 and was named Vice President of Operations in July 2003. Previously he held several positions at the Company, including Senior Project Manager and Vice President of Sales. Marvin has over 30 years experience in the fabricated steel industry. Marvin was employed by Owen Steel (a division of SMI) as Manager of Contracts prior to joining Steel, Inc. where he oversaw projects including Denver International Airport Terminal, Texas Rangers Baseball Stadium in Dallas, 191 Peachtree in Atlanta, and the Bank of America Tower in Atlanta. Marvin graduated from Southern Technical Institute with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology in 1978. Marvin currently serves as a Director for the Southern Association of Steel Fabricators.
Robb Merritt, Vice President of Finance
Mr. Merritt joined the company in 2003 as its Chief Financial Officer. He is a Certified Public Accountant registered in Georgia. Previously, Mr. Merritt worked as a CPA for Deloitte & Touche, and he also operated his own public accounting firm. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Emory University.
